Reiki

Reiki is a natural healing energy activated by intention.  It works at every level, not just physical, to promote the body’s regenerative natural healing ability.  Reiki is an original method of healing developed in Japan early in the 20th Century by Dr Mikao Usui.

The Japanese word “Reiki” means “Universal Energy” – Eastern medicine has always recognised & worked with this energy, which flows through all living things & is vital to well-being.  In Japan it is known as “Ki”; in China “Chi”; and in India “Prana”.  Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Yoga are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person.

Reiki is a gentle, powerful complimentary therapy which can be used with confidence alongside orthodox healthcare, and as such, expands treatment options.  A Reiki treatment is usually carried out with the recipient sitting or lying down in a comfortable, peaceful environment.  There is no need to remove any clothing – Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts.

The practitioner places their hands gently on or over the body and the recipient automatically draws in as much energy as is needed.  The energy may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness or nothing at all.  It is deeply relaxing and has a profoundly calming effect which is particularly effective in relieving stress.
